The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has completed eight years in power, with a strong focus on law and order emerging as a central narrative of its governance. As per police records, during this period, a total of 227 criminals were killed in encounters, over 1 lakh faced strict legal action, and 58,624 criminals were sent to jail. These figures reflect the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy towards crime.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has frequently emphasized that "there is no place for criminals in Uttar Pradesh", reiterating his commitment to a crime-free state. Under his leadership, the police have aggressively pursued anti-crime operations, invoking laws such as the Gangster Act, property confiscations, and targeted encounters to dismantle mafia networks.
A centerpiece of this crackdown is the “Das Ka Dum” initiative, launched as part of Mission Shakti Phase-5. This umbrella campaign includes ten specialized operations—Garuda, Eagle, Majnu, Raksha, Bachpan, Khoj, Shield, Destroy, Nasha Mukti, and Trinetra—each targeting specific forms of crime ranging from cyber offenses to human trafficking and child exploitation.
DGP Prashant Kumar noted that more than 11 lakh CCTV cameras have been installed across the state under Operation Trinetra, linked directly to police stations. These real-time surveillance networks have helped in solving 5,718 heinous crimes including robbery and loot. Operation Garuda tackled cybercrime against women, leading to 498 arrests and 405 charge sheets filed.
Similarly, Operation Majnu cracked down on harassers near schools and colleges, with action taken at 7,554 locations and over 58,000 persons booked. Operation Eagle reined in repeat offenders involved in crimes against women. Meanwhile, Operation Raksha rescued 56 trafficked women, and Operation Khoj rehabilitated 3,327 missing children.
Additional efforts included Operation Bachpan rescuing 2,860 children from child labour and begging, and Operation Nasha Mukti targeting drug abuse hotspots across the state. The crackdown on illegal acid and pornographic content under Operation Shield and Destroy also resulted in multiple arrests and store closures.
