'No hawker eviction this month', orders Calcutta HC in Raliway land encroachment case
During the ongoing election season, authorities in Ratua, Malda seized a large amount of cash in a targeted operation. During the operation, cash exceeding ₹15 lakh was confiscated from two cars after the occupants failed to provide valid documentation.
The seizure was carried out under strict instructions from the Election Commission aimed at curbing illegal cash circulation during the electoral process. Officials stated that the money was sent to higher authorities after proper verification and formal procedures were completed. The checkpoint was maintained by the Pokhuriya Police Station, which monitored vehicles closely to ensure compliance with election regulations.
