Eastern Railway's Sealdah division has announced a comprehensive traffic and power block on the Sealdah South section over the upcoming weekend to carry out essential infrastructure development and safety-related maintenance work. The block will be enforced on the down passenger line in the Ballygunge station area for a total duration of 6 hours and 30 minutes, stretching from 10:15 PM on Saturday, June 27, to 4:45 AM on Sunday, June 28. Eastern Railway officials stated that the maintenance layout was intentionally planned over the weekend to minimise the operational impact on daily corporate commuters and regular office-goers.
Due to the temporary suspension of overhead power lines and track access, at least 15 local train services across various suburban branches have been completely cancelled for Saturday and Sunday. The cancellations affect a wide web of local networks connecting the main Sealdah terminal, including the Laxmikantpur, Canning, Diamond Harbour, Budge Budge, and Sonarpur routes. Specifically, a large portion of the late-night services on Saturday and early morning locals on Sunday will remain off the tracks, forcing passengers to seek alternative road transport methods.
Here is the complete list of cancelled and partially running local trains on the Sealdah South branch for the weekend block (June 27 and June 28) at a glance:
