Over 200 flights at Delhi airport delayed due to heavy rain and storm

Heavy rain and thunderstorms that swept through Delhi overnight have significantly impacted flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport this Friday morning. The adverse weather conditions have led to the cancellation or delay of over 200 flights, causing inconvenience for numerous passengers.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the airport's operator, promptly issued an advisory at 5:30 a.m. urging passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates on their flight schedules. The advisory highlighted the potential for delays due to the ongoing inclement weather and thunderstorms affecting the capital city.

In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), Delhi Airport stated, "Due to inclement weather conditions and thunderstorms in Delhi, some flights have been impacted at Delhi Airport. Our on-ground teams are diligently working with all stakeholders to ensure a seamless and efficient passenger experience." This message aimed to reassure passengers that efforts were underway to mitigate the disruptions.

Airport officials also confirmed that three flights had to be diverted due to the poor weather. One flight was rerouted to Ahmedabad, while two others were directed to Jaipur, indicating the severity of the conditions around Delhi airspace.
