Train services faced disruptions on Thursday morning when an overhead wire broke near Kuntighat station, impacting the Bandel-Katwa route in Hooghly district. Operations on the down line were halted since 5 am, leading to numerous passengers being stranded at various stations. To mitigate the impact, mail and express trains were rerouted through the up line, causing delays in the schedule of several long-distance trains.
Repair work on the damaged railway overhead wire near Kuntighat station was underway. Notably, the 37912 Down Howrah local, scheduled to depart from Jiraat at 5:14 am, experienced a significant delay, not leaving the station even after 8 am. As of the latest update, three pairs of trains had come to a halt at different stations due to the disruption on the down line, prompting station authorities to redirect certain express trains through the up line during the morning hours.
