Overnight heavy rainfall in Kolkata led to severe waterlogging across multiple areas, including Behala, Tollygunge, Park Circus, and Salt Lake, causing major disruptions in traffic and daily movement. Roads were submerged, vehicles were partially underwater, and residents reported knee-deep water in low-lying localities. Commuters, including school children and office-goers, faced significant challenges navigating through flooded streets.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation deployed over 250 portable pumps and additional personnel to drain water from affected zones. Civic teams continued pumping operations through the morning, targeting clogged drains and underpasses. Authorities confirmed that monitoring is ongoing, and response teams are in place. Rainfall intensity decreased by morning, but drainage in several pockets remained slow. Further rainfall is forecast in the next 24 hours.
