AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has expressed his willingness to forge an alliance with Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Speaking at an event in Moradabad, the Hyderabad MP cautioned that political parties must negotiate now to prevent the ruling BJP from securing another term, warning against regret after election results are finalized.
Addressing allegations that his party divides opposition votes, Owaisi directly offered to join forces with the Samajwadi Party to challenge the BJP. He emphasized that AIMIM's struggle is aimed at achieving equal rights, political respect, and justice, rather than competing against any community, asserting that his party demands a seat at the table as an equal partner.
The Bharatiya Janata Party swiftly criticized the potential alliance, describing it as a convergence of appeasement politics. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala mocked the development as Owaisi sending a "friend request" to Akhilesh Yadav, characterizing both leaders as two sides of the same coin in their pursuit of vote-bank politics.
