Painter falls to death while working without safety gear in Salt Lake’s DA block

A painter died after falling from a building while working without a safety belt in Bidhannagar’s DA Block. The incident took place at DA 31 Block, near Vidyasagar Island, under the jurisdiction of Bidhannagar North Police Station. According to police sources, the house was undergoing painting work when the worker lost his balance and fell from a significant height. He was rushed to Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Eyewitnesses stated that the worker was painting an upper section of the building without any safety harness when he slipped and fell. Locals also mentioned that similar construction and painting work has been ongoing in the area, often without adequate safety measures. However, no official statement has been released regarding safety protocols followed at the site. The contractor responsible for the project has not yet commented on the incident.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem and registered an unnatural death case.
