Railway passengers in the Howrah division should brace for changes as a pair of local trains have been canceled, and two express trains have been given additional stoppages at three stations to ease commuter discomfort. These adjustments come as track maintenance work continues along the Howrah-Burdwan chord line between Jaugram and Gurap stations.
According to railway sources, the Howrah-Burdwan (via chord) EMU local trains—train number 36811 (Howrah-Burdwan) and train number 36812 (Burdwan-Howrah)—will be canceled on October 7. The cancellation is due to the extension of track maintenance work on the downline of the Howrah-Burdwan chord.
The maintenance is part of a larger effort to improve track conditions and enhance overall safety and service efficiency for passengers traveling on this route.
To offset the inconvenience caused by the local train cancellations, the railways have also announced additional stops for two express trains. The Howrah-Haridwar-Howrah Express Special (train numbers 04311/04312) and the Kolkata-Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Express Special (train numbers 04681/04682) will now make additional halts at Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, and Lucknow stations.
This change came into effect on Saturday and is aimed at providing passengers with more flexible travel options during this period of disruption.
