Rain washes RCB vs KKR match; Defending champions knocked out of playoff race
A viral video has surfaced showing Colonel Taimur Rahat, the Pakistan Army and Air Advisor at the Pakistan High Commission in London, making a throat-slitting gesture toward protestors. The clip, which lasts for about five seconds, shows Rahat standing on the embassy balcony as he appears to direct the gesture at members of the Indian community who were protesting outside the embassy on Friday. The protest was held in response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 people dead, mostly tourists.

The protest, organized by over 500 members of the British Hindu community, condemned the Pahalgam attack and demanded justice for the victims. Protestors carried Indian flags, placards, and banners, raising slogans against terrorism and criticizing Pakistan’s role in sheltering groups believed to be behind such attacks. The tragic event, which occurred on April 22, was claimed by the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, and among the victims were 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.
During the protest, which was held outside the Pakistan High Commission, the embassy reportedly played loud celebratory music. This action was seen as insensitive and tone-deaf by the protestors, who were mourning the loss of lives in the terrorist attack. A protest organizer criticized the embassy’s actions, calling it a "disgraceful act that added deep insult to an already grievous injury." The protestors expressed frustration, demanding that the Pakistani government be held accountable for its alleged support of terror groups.
The video of Colonel Rahat making the threatening gesture has led to widespread condemnation. The situation highlights the growing tensions between India and Pakistan, with the attack in Pahalgam worsening bilateral relations. In response to the attack, the Indian government has taken several diplomatic steps, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and expelling Pakistani military attaches from New Delhi. Pakistan has also threatened severe consequences if India takes any aggressive action in the aftermath of the attack.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have identified two Pakistani nationals as suspects in the Pahalgam attack, and authorities have announced a reward for information leading to their arrest. India has vowed to pursue the perpetrators of the attack and bring them to justice. The situation has led to further diplomatic measures, with Pakistan facing increasing international pressure over its support for terrorist groups operating from its soil.
