Pakistan firing kills 10 civilians along border, injures 30

At least ten civilians were killed and over 30 others injured in Indian-administered Kashmir following artillery fire from across the Line of Control (LoC). The shelling targeted multiple civilian areas, resulting in damage to property and the displacement of residents in border villages. Local authorities confirmed the casualties and reported ongoing efforts to provide medical assistance to the injured.

India responded with retaliatory strikes across the LoC, targeting what it described as Pakistan-based positions involved in the initial attack. Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that five different localities in Pakistan were hit, including two mosques. He said, “So far, there have been eight people who have died, 30 who are injured. Mostly, they are families.” He accused India of attacking without justification, alleging that the strikes followed unproven claims regarding the recent Pahalgam incident.

Tarar also claimed Pakistan had “shot down five planes of the Indian air force,” along with “one drone and many quadcopters.” He reiterated that Pakistan had proposed a fair investigation into the Pahalgam attack, but said India declined and instead launched attacks on civilian populations. Both sides have reported casualties, and exchanges along the LoC remain tense as each country blames the other for initiating hostilities.
