Tension gripped passengers after a train came under stone-pelting attack near Beldanga station in Murshidabad on Sunday night. The incident occurred when a Kolkata-bound train heading towards Lalgola approached the station, triggering panic among commuters onboard.
According to initial accounts, stones were allegedly thrown at the second-class compartment as the train entered the station area. Passengers described moments of confusion and fear, with some stating that stones suddenly struck near windows, leaving them alarmed. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. The attack is being seen as part of a pattern of similar incidents reported along this route, raising concerns about passenger safety, especially in the run-up to elections. Eyewitnesses claimed that such occurrences are not uncommon in the area, adding to apprehensions among regular commuters.
