• Three live cartridges recovered from passenger’s bag during security screening at Patna airport
• CISF detained the accused and handed him over to airport police for investigation
• Case registered under Arms Act as passenger failed to produce licence for ammunition
A security alert was triggered at Jay Prakash Narayan Airport in Patna after three live cartridges were discovered in a passenger’s bag during routine security screening. Personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) detected the ammunition during X-ray scanning of luggage and immediately detained the passenger.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the passenger was preparing to board a flight to Delhi. During baggage screening, security staff noticed a suspicious object on the X-ray monitor. A manual inspection of the bag revealed three live cartridges, causing a brief security scare at the airport. The passenger has been identified as a resident of Phulwari Sharif in Patna. During questioning, he reportedly told authorities that he was travelling to Delhi to visit a sick relative and claimed he was unaware that the cartridges were inside his bag. However, he could not produce any valid licence or documents to possess the ammunition.
Following the recovery, CISF personnel handed the accused over to the airport police station. A case has been registered under the Arms Act and an investigation is underway to determine how the cartridges ended up in his possession. Security checks at the airport have also been intensified after the incident.
