A tragic road accident occurred this morning on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, where a double-decker bus traveling from Bihar to New Delhi veered off the road and plunged into a ditch. The horrific incident, which took place in Etawah district around 7:43 am, has resulted in two confirmed fatalities and left over 50 passengers injured, some of whom are in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus was traveling at a high speed when the driver lost control, leading to the devastating crash. The vehicle's sudden descent into the ditch caused panic and chaos among the passengers. Local residents who heard the desperate screams of the passengers immediately rushed to the scene to provide assistance before official help arrived.
Upon receiving the report, local police and emergency services quickly reached the site and initiated a large-scale rescue operation. The injured were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Those with serious injuries were referred to the Saifai Medical Institute, while others are being treated at local medical facilities, with their condition being closely monitored.
According to police, the bus was carrying approximately 65 passengers at the time of the accident. Preliminary investigations point towards speeding and driver negligence as potential contributing factors to the crash. However, a thorough investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
In a statement, SSP Etawah, Akash Tomar, confirmed the fatalities. "Two deaths have been confirmed in the accident. The injured have been admitted to the hospital, and their condition is being monitored. We are conducting a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident," he said. The police are also actively searching for the bus driver, who reportedly absconded from the scene immediately after the crash.
