A group of nearly a dozen armed individuals, their faces concealed, launched an audacious attack on a sleeper coach of the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express in Jharkhand. The robbery occurred between Latehar and Barwadih stations on Saturday night. The assailants, who had boarded the train at Latehar, stormed into the S9 coach, fired shots, assaulted passengers, and subsequently fled with cash, ornaments, and other valuable items.
The incident unfolded as the Jammu-bound Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express (Train No.18309) departed from Latehar station around 11.22 pm. The unidentified men, numbering around 10, initiated the attack, causing panic among passengers. They not only attacked and assaulted passengers but also discharged gunshots into the air to intimidate them before absconding with their loot.
The violent assault resulted in injuries to 5 to 6 passengers, who were later provided medical treatment at Daltonganj station.
