No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Commuters were left stranded on Friday morning when an AC local train from Ranaghat to Sealdah failed to stop at Bamangachhi station, despite a scheduled halt. Around 25 passengers waiting on the platform could not board, and those on board who intended to alight at Bamangachhi were also forced to continue to the next station.
Passengers expressed anger over the incident, blaming the train guard for negligence. Bamangachhi Station Superintendent Nanigopal Sarkar immediately informed the Sealdah Railway Control Room. Instructions were then issued for affected passengers to alight at Barasat and continue their journey by boarding the next AC local train toward Bangaon.
The mishap caused additional inconvenience for passengers who had to travel back from Barasat to Bamangachhi. Eastern Railway has confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain why the train skipped the scheduled stop. Chief Public Relations Officer Diptimay Dutt said the matter is being examined seriously.
Local leaders, including Bakibulla Sardar of the Trinamool Congress Minority Cell, visited the station and announced plans to submit a written complaint to the Railway General Manager and Divisional Railway Manager. They also demanded the introduction of monthly travel passes for AC local trains to ease commuter difficulties.
