Ahead of Poila Boishakh, rail services across the Howrah division have been significantly disrupted as Eastern Railway announced cancellation of 42 trains on Sunday, April 12. The cancellations have been attributed to scheduled maintenance work across multiple sections of the division, affecting key routes including Howrah, Bardhaman, Bandel, Memari, Katwa, Chandanpur, Azimganj, and Asansol.
The highest impact has been reported from Howrah, where 17 trains have been cancelled, followed by Bardhaman with 8 cancellations. Several other trains across different routes have also been affected, along with partial route termination, delays in departures, and regulated movement of select services. Passengers have been advised to check updated schedules before travel as the situation may lead to congestion and revised timings across the network.
