Another KMC councillor, Biswajit Mondal arrested, after woman alleges molestation and threats
Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh on Saturday announced that he will not contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, reiterating his commitment to remain a “true soldier” of the BJP. His statement comes amid speculations that he might contest on a BJP ticket from one of the seven assembly seats in Bhojpur district, with Ara and Barhara being considered likely options.
Singh recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Rajya Sabha member Upendra Kushwaha, fueling rumours about his electoral plans. In a post on X, he clarified, “I did not join the party (BJP) to contest the Bihar assembly elections...nor do I want to contest the assembly elections. I am a true soldier of the party and will remain so.” He also shared a photograph with Shah alongside the post.
The actor had previously contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election as an Independent from the Karakat seat, which was won by Raja Ram Kushwaha of CPI(ML) Liberation. Meanwhile, his wife Jyoti Singh had recently met political strategist Prashant Kishor, sparking speculations about her potential candidacy. Kishor later clarified that Jyoti Singh had no intention to contest, stating she visited to discuss personal difficulties.
In recent months, the couple’s marital discord has made headlines. Jyoti Singh’s visit to Pawan Singh’s Lucknow flat ended with police intervention, after which she posted a video alleging harassment and threats of eviction.
