The fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections saw a voter turnout of 36.73% by 1 PM, according to the Election Commission’s Voter Turnout App. Ladakh recorded the highest polling percentage at 52.02%, while Maharashtra had the lowest at 27.78%. West Bengal registered a voter turnout of 48.4%.
Polling is taking place for 49 Lok Sabha seats across six states and two Union Territories, including Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla. By 9 AM, the Election Commission had received around 471 complaints from various political parties in West Bengal. The complaints involved malfunctioning EVMs, polling agents being stopped from entering booths, and voters being threatened or prevented from casting their votes in different constituencies.
