Reconstruction of crime scene in Kasba as probe intensifies in Kolkata college student rape case
Anandeshwar Agrahari, a 38-year-old physiotherapist and father of two, has been apprehended by Lucknow police for the brutal stabbing of his wife, Sandhya Sahu. The incident, which occurred on December 4 in Lucknow’s Roshan Nagar area, saw the accused allegedly stab his wife 18 times with a kitchen knife. The arrest follows a two-week-long investigation initiated after a complaint was filed by the victim's brother, Aman Sahu, under IPC 302 (murder).
DCP Rahul Raj revealed that Agrahari confessed to the crime during police interrogation, citing his wife's extramarital affair and recurring disputes over financial matters as triggers for their heated arguments. Agrahari, described as an alcoholic and addicted to betting, recounted the fatal night when the altercation escalated. He confessed to cuffing his wife's hands and legs before stabbing her multiple times. The knife used in the crime has been recovered by the police.
During the sequence of events, Agrahari disclosed that he strategically chose a time when his differently-abled elder son, Tanishq, was asleep and could not hear his mother's screams. The younger son, Shaurya, was in school, and Agrahari fed him sedatives on the way home, ensuring he remained asleep upon arrival. Subsequently, Agrahari fled the scene. The lifeless body of Sandhya Sahu was discovered on December 5 by her mother, Kamla, at their residence in Roshan Nagar.
