Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
At least ten people lost their lives in a tragic stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy temple in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. The incident took place during a crowded religious gathering at Kasibugga, leaving several others injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, stating that he was “pained” by the loss of lives. He announced ₹2 lakh ex-gratia each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the families of those killed and ₹50,000 for those injured. The Prime Minister also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured devotees.
Union home minister Amit Shah said he was “deeply shocked” by the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu also conveyed his sympathies, directing officials to ensure immediate medical treatment and relief for those injured. State minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu visited the spot and met the affected families while overseeing ongoing rescue and relief efforts.
Authorities have launched a probe into the cause of the stampede, as the state government continues to coordinate relief measures and support to the victims’ families.
