PM Modi condemns attack on BJP leaders in North Bengal, slams TMC over 'insensitivity'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the attack on his party colleagues, who included an incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), while they were actively engaged in serving flood and landslide victims in West Bengal. The incident, which saw dedicated relief workers become targets of violence, has drawn sharp rebuke from the nation's leader.

The Prime Minister explicitly described the attack as "highly condemnable." The BJP members were selflessly working in the regions devastated by heavy rains and subsequent landslides, which have severely impacted parts of North Bengal. Their relief efforts were suddenly disrupted by an aggressive assault while they were attempting to provide aid to the people struggling in the immediate aftermath of the natural disaster.

In his censure, PM Modi did not mince words regarding the ruling party of the state. He asserted that the attack is a clear reflection of the "insensitivity of the Trinamool Congress (TMC)" and underscores the "pitiful state of law and order" within West Bengal. The sentiment expressed suggests that such acts of violence, particularly during a humanitarian crisis, are a direct consequence of the political atmosphere in the state.

Following his condemnation, the Prime Minister made a fervent appeal to the state's leadership. He urged the West Bengal Government and the Trinamool Congress to concentrate their entire focus on helping the citizens in distress instead of indulging in acts of violence during this exceptionally difficult time. The priority, he stressed, must be human welfare and disaster mitigation.

The widespread damage, including casualties and complete disruption of road connectivity in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and the plains, necessitates a unified and cooperative response. Modi's message highlights that this is a period demanding political unity and relief work, not confrontation and discord among political rivals.

Concluding his statement, the Prime Minister issued a clear directive to his party members on the ground. He called upon all BJP Karyakartas (workers) to remain steadfast and dedicated to their duty. He urged them to continue standing by the affected populace and provide their fullest assistance in the ongoing rescue and recovery operations, despite the unwarranted attacks faced by their colleagues.
