Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the loss of life in Turkey after a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country.
PM Modi tweeted, "Anguished by the loss of lives & damage of property due to earthquake in Turkey. Condolences to bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. India stands in solidarity with people of Turkey & is ready to offer all possible assistance to cope with this tragedy."
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey on Monday, followed by another strong tremor that was felt in several provinces in the region. At least 53 people were killed in the earthquake, the report said.
The US Geological Survey said the 7.8-magnitude quake struck at 04:17 local time (01:17 GMT) at a depth of 17.9 km (11 miles) near the city of Gaziantep.
