The fourth annual Rozgar Mela is being held today, February 20, 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the nomination letters through video conferencing at 11:30 am. According to sources, 71,000 appointment letters will be sent to the newly recruited recruits.
PM Modi launched the Rozgar Mela on the occasion of Dhanteras last year. The aim of the campaign is to secure 10 million central government jobs by the end of this year. The official website says, “Rozgar Mela is a 1-2 day event where several employers and job seekers come together to apply for jobs and conduct interviews. More specifically, Rozgar Mela is an employment strategy to accelerate the meeting of job seekers and employers.” The initiative has been taken up by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
According to the campaign, the recruits selected from all over the country will join various posts under the Government of India such as Junior Engineers, Locomotive Pilots, Technicians, Inspectors, Sub Inspectors, Constable, Stenographers, Junior Accountant, Grameen Dak Sevak, Income Tax Inspector, Teacher, Health nurse, doctor, welfare officer, PA, MTS, among others.
Last month, PM Modi circulated 71,000 appointment letters to newly hired employees and distributed them to various government departments and organizations. While in 2022, over 75,000 unemployed people received appointment letters. According to official sources, a total of 2,48,596 people have been shortlisted/selected for the posts so far.
PM Modi has so far addressed Rozgar Mela in several states including Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also launched the Karmayogi Prarambh module for online orientation courses for all new appointees in various government departments.
