The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has persisted for the past 23 days, continues to draw international attention. Israel's Navy and Air Force have been relentlessly targeting Hamas positions in Gaza. In the midst of this crisis, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been actively engaging with global leaders to address the situation. Recently, he had a phone conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to express his deep concern for the safety and well-being of the people of Gaza
PM Modi took to Twitter to share insights from his conversation with President Al-Sisi, stating, "Talked to President Al-Sisi yesterday. We exchanged views on the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in West Asia. We shared concerns regarding terrorism, violence, and the tragic loss of civilian lives. We are in agreement about the urgent need to restore peace and stability, as well as to facilitate humanitarian aid."
PM Modi's engagement doesn't stop there. He recently discussed the situation with King Abdullah II of Jordan and conveyed the importance of resolving issues related to security and the humanitarian crisis promptly. The Prime Minister has also held phone conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the ongoing conflict.
It's important to note that the situation in Gaza is dire, with Israel intensifying its attacks and even shutting down the internet, which has cut off around 2.3 million people in Gaza from the outside world. The Israeli Ministry of Defense has declared that the conflict has entered a new phase, with a commitment to eliminating Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The death toll in the region has reached approximately 7,700 people, including over 2,900 minors and more than 1,500 women. Tragically, about 1,700 people are still believed to be buried under the debris, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
