PM Modi holds massive roadshow in Vadodara; Col Sofiya Qureshi’s family showers him with flower petals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Indian Railways’ new electric locomotive manufacturing plant in Dahod, Gujarat, on May 26. The plant will produce 9000 HP electric locomotives designed to increase freight loading capacity for domestic use and exports. This facility is part of India’s efforts to modernize its railway infrastructure and enhance freight transportation capabilities.

Modi began his two-day visit to Gujarat with a roadshow in Vadodara. Addressing the crowd on social media, he expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, saying, "Thank you Vadodara! Extremely delighted to be in this great city. It was a splendid roadshow and that too in the morning! Gratitude to all those who showered their blessings." The roadshow was attended by thousands of residents, highlighting strong local support for the prime minister’s visit.

During the roadshow, the family of Indian Army officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, known for her daily briefings during Operation Sindoor, showered flower petals at Prime Minister Modi as a mark of respect and appreciation. Shayna Sunsara, Colonel Qureshi’s sister, said, "He has done a lot for women's empowerment. Sofia is my twin. When your sister does something for the country, it inspires not only me but others as well."

Following the roadshow, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate projects worth over Rs 53,400 crore in Bhuj. These projects cover multiple sectors aimed at regional development and economic growth. Modi will also address a public rally there to discuss the progress and future plans for the region.

The visit will conclude in Gandhinagar, where Modi will attend an event celebrating 20 years of the Gujarat Urban Growth Story. He will also launch the Urban Development Year 2025 and the State Clean Air Programme. The Urban Growth Story was initially launched in 2005 during Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister to improve urban infrastructure and governance. The new initiatives aim to further enhance urban living standards across the state.
