Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the 14th edition of India's largest aerospace and defense exhibition, Aero India. At the event, the Prime Minister supported the 'Make in India' campaign and gave a new impetus to the domestic aviation sector.
The five-day event will include aerial displays of aircraft and helicopters along with a major exhibition and fair for aerospace and defense companies. The prime minister also issued commemorative stamps at the event.
As many as 809 exhibitors, including 110 foreign, have confirmed their participation in the show at Air Force Station Yelahanka, which is a platform for 'Make in India for the world', defense officials said. Aero India, the leading exhibition in the global aerospace industry, is held every two years on a total area of approximately 35,000 square metres and provides the industry with an opportunity to showcase its capabilities, products and services.
The TAPAS-BH (Tactical Aerial Platform for Advanced Surveillance – Beyond Horizon) Medium Altitude Long Endurance unmanned aircraft developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization made its flight debut at Aero India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter today to share glimpses of Aero India 2023. "Aero India is a wonderful platform to showcase the unlimited potential our country has in defence and aerospace sectors," the prime minister said.
