Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 246-km Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Dausa on Sunday. This section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time, especially from the state capital to Jaipur, from 5 hours to around 3.5 hours.
The Delhi-Dausa stretch has been developed at a cost of over Rs 12,150 crore and its commissioning will not only reduce travel time but will also significantly aid the economic development of the entire region. In addition, the stretch will reduce congestion on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway and improve connectivity between Gurugram, Nuh, Palwal and adjoining areas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Dausa, Rajasthan around 3 pm on Sunday to inaugurate the 246 km long Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar visited the traffic control center near Sohna on the Delhi-Mumbai highway during the day. Another inaugural program was organized at Hilalpur toll plaza in Nuh where Khattar was present.
The Sohna-Dausa stretch is likely to be opened for traffic in the coming days after the inauguration. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME) will be the longest expressway in India at 1,386 km. It will reduce the travel distance between Delhi and Mumbai from 1,424 km to 1,242 km and reduce travel time by a whopping 50 percent from 24 hours to 12 hours. It will pass through six states - Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra - connecting major cities like Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat.
