Kolkata Airport makes history by welcoming first Giant Airbus Beluga XL
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a significant move ahead of the upcoming Ram Temple inauguration on January 22, inaugurated the newly constructed Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya.
The new airport in Ayodhya has been named after sage poet Maharishi Valmiki. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that PM Modi resolved to build modern airports and railway stations. Maharishi Valmiki is credited for writing the epic Ramayana.
The recently inaugurated Shri Ram International Airport, situated approximately 15 km from the main city of Ayodhya, has been unveiled ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's anticipated visit. The airport's strategic location aims to enhance connectivity to the temple town. As Ayodhya tightens security measures in anticipation of PM Modi's visit, the newly constructed airport features a terminal building covering an expansive area of 6500 sq m. This facility is poised to cater to around 10 lakh passengers annually, facilitating increased accessibility to Ayodhya and its surrounding regions.
The Ayodhya Airport's terminal building is designed with a focus on sustainability, incorporating various eco-friendly features. These include an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, fountains in the landscaping, a water treatment plant, a sewage treatment plant, and a solar power plant. These elements are integrated to meet the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) 5-star ratings, showcasing a commitment to environmentally conscious infrastructure development.
