PM Modi meets Padma Vibhushan awardee Vyjayanthimala in Chennai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met legendary actress Vyjayanthimala in Chennai, extending his regards to the Padma Vibhushan awardee. Vyjayanthimala, revered for her exemplary contributions to Indian cinema, received the nation's second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, on the eve of Republic Day 2024. PM Modi shared images from their meeting, showcasing a moment where he respectfully greeted the iconic actress with folded hands.

In a separate interaction, veteran actress Hema Malini also paid a visit to Vyjayanthimala at her Chennai residence, expressing her admiration and nostalgia for the 'Jewel Thief' star. Hema Malini, in an Instagram post, described the encounter as the "most memorable day" of her life, highlighting Vyjayanthimala's enduring passion for dance and her remarkable presence in the film industry since her debut in 1949 with the Tamil film 'Vaazhkai'. Vyjayanthimala's cinematic legacy includes iconic films like 'Devdas', 'Sangam', 'Madhumati', and 'Naya Daur'.
