PM Modi meets Sandeshkhali women victims

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a significant step by meeting with women victims of sexual assault in Sandeshkhali village, West Bengal, on Wednesday. The meeting aimed to address the distressing situation that has emerged in the village following allegations against local Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his associates of sexually assaulting multiple women.

Sandeshkhali, situated in North 24 Parganas, has been embroiled in turmoil since the accusations surfaced against the 40-year-old TMC leader, popularly known as 'Bhai' among his followers, who was apprehended last week.

"After the public meeting, the Prime Minister met a few women from Sandeshkhali. The women spoke about the atrocities that were perpetrated on them," BJP state general secretary Agnimitra Paul told.

Prior to his rally in Barasat, PM Modi had hit out at Mamata Banerjee over Sandeshkhali. “Whatever happened in Sandeshkhali is a matter of shame. The TMC government is trying to protect the person responsible for this. However, they have received a setback from the high court as well as the Supreme Court… The storm of Sandeshkhali will reach every part of West Bengal,” he had said.
