PM Modi mocks RaGa's poll scheme says, 'Raebareli will send him home Khata Khat'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his 'khata khat' remark during a rally in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. Modi criticized Gandhi's comments on development and poverty alleviation, suggesting that the people of Raebareli would send Gandhi home 'khata khat'.

"For the 'shehzadas' of Samajwadi Party and Congress, the country's development is like the game of 'gilli danda'. The 'shehzadas' born in palaces are neither used to hard work nor bringing results. They say the country will develop on its own and say it will be done 'khata khat, khata khat'," Modi stated at the rally.

Modi's remarks come after Rahul Gandhi promised at a poll rally that the Congress would transfer ₹1 lakh into the account of one woman from every poor household if they win the elections. Responding to this, Modi remarked, "They say that poverty will be removed from India 'khata khat'. They should know that the people of Raebareli will send them home 'khata khat'."

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also criticized Gandhi's promise, questioning the financial feasibility of the proposed schemes. "Have they calculated how much the 'khata khat' schemes will cost fiscally? Will they borrow substantially...or will they raise taxes to fund them?" Sitharaman posted on X.
