PM Modi not coming to Kolkata's Brigade for Gita recital event

In a significant setback for the organizers of the 'Ek Lokho Konthe Gita Path' scheduled at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground on December 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reported to be not attending the event. The Prime Minister was slated to recite the Geeta alongside Shankaracharya Sadanand Saraswati, but due to commitments to a government program, he will not be present in Kolkata.

Despite prior efforts, there is no confirmation from leader Yogi Adityanath's side as well, adding to the challenges faced by the organizing committee.

Preparations for the event, which had PM Modi at the forefront for the past three months, have hit a roadblock with his absence, causing disappointment among the Sanatanis and impacting the BJP Bengal unit. A meeting was hastily convened at the Salt Lake party office, led by BJP President Sukant Majumdar and Assembly Opposition Leader Subhendu Adhikari. While details of the decisions made were not disclosed, discussions reportedly focused on reorganizing the program in the wake of PM Modi's absence.

Frustration among BJP workers is evident, and it is reported that a state BJP delegation was planning to meet PM Modi. The last week witnessed extensive displays of banners and posters featuring the Prime Minister across Kolkata, sparking verbal exchanges between Trinamool and BJP.

Despite assurances of the event's success, the absence of PM Modi has created an atmosphere of disappointment among organizers and participants.
