PM Modi shifts PMO, announces PM Rahat and unveils key decisions on Day 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated Seva Teerth, the new integrated complex that will house the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat, marking the first relocation of the PMO since Independence. Alongside the inauguration, he unveiled Kartavya Bhavan 1 and 2, which will accommodate several key ministries, and released a Rs 100 commemorative coin to mark the occasion.

The relocation brings three core executive institutions under one roof, replacing their earlier arrangement across different locations including the British-era South Block. The government said the move represents a transformative milestone in India’s administrative governance architecture and reflects a commitment to building a modern, efficient and citizen-centric governance ecosystem. The date, February 13, coincides with the anniversary of New Delhi’s formal inauguration as India’s capital in 1931.

On his first day working from Seva Teerth, the Prime Minister approved a series of major decisions. These include the launch of the PM Rahat Scheme to provide cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh for accident victims. He also doubled the target for the Lakhpati Didi initiative to 6 crore beneficiaries by March 2029 after the government crossed 3 crore ahead of schedule.

In a push to strengthen agriculture and innovation, the outlay of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund was doubled from ₹1 lakh crore to ₹2 lakh crore. The Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 was also approved with a corpus of ₹10,000 crore to boost deep tech, early-stage ventures and advanced manufacturing.

Built to 4-Star GRIHA standards, Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan feature digitally integrated offices, structured public interface zones, renewable energy systems and advanced security frameworks. Once vacated, the historic South and North Blocks will be converted into the ‘Yuge Yugeen Bharat Sangrahalaya’, a public museum project under international collaboration.
