PM Modi to address the nation at 8pm tonight

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 PM tonight, officials confirmed, in his first public statement since the launch of Operation Sindoor and the subsequent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. The address is expected to focus on national security, regional stability, and India's response to terrorism.

The announcement comes just two days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, ending four days of intense military engagement across land, air, and sea. The high-level military understanding was reached following a spate of deadly violence and increasing global concerns over a wider conflict in the region.

Operation Sindoor was launched by Indian armed forces on the night of May 6-7, in direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians, including women and children. In retaliation, India conducted precision strikes on nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, reportedly killing over 100 terrorists.

In retaliation, Pakistan launched attacks on several Indian military installations between May 8 and 10. These included attempts to strike key bases in Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan. However, Indian forces not only repelled these attempts but launched counter-attacks on Pakistani military assets.

Key Pakistani military sites such as Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian were targeted in the Indian response, causing significant damage to infrastructure and reportedly neutralizing critical assets.

Tonight’s national address by the Prime Minister is expected to reassure citizens, honour the armed forces, and reiterate India’s commitment to peace while maintaining national security. It may also outline the government's diplomatic and strategic stance following one of the most intense military standoffs in recent years.
