Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for a series of crucial bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the upcoming G20 Summit in New Delhi. As the world prepares to converge for this significant event, sources have revealed that PM Modi will engage in more than 15 meetings with world leaders. The G20 Summit, scheduled for the weekend, promises to be a gathering of top leaders from around the globe.
On September 8, PM Modi's agenda includes bilateral meetings with leaders from Mauritius, Bangladesh, and the United States. The following day, amid the G20 Summit, he will hold talks with counterparts from the UK, Japan, Germany, and Italy. Additionally, PM Modi will host a working lunch meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The busy schedule continues with a pull-aside meeting with Canada, followed by bilateral discussions with leaders from Comoros, Turkiye, the UAE, South Korea, the EU/EC, Brazil, and Nigeria.
Notably, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to be accompanied by her daughter, Saima Wazed, during her visit to India for the G20 summit. Their visit will feature significant events, including the inauguration of a rail link with Tripura and the second unit of the Rampal power plant, conducted virtually from Delhi on the sidelines of the G20 meeting. Several agreements are also on the agenda, including a deal that facilitates Rupee-Taka cards for citizens of both countries to use local currency instead of dollars while traveling.
The much-anticipated bilateral talks between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden are among the key highlights. President Biden is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Friday evening.
