PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the newly developed terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport on Tuesday. The two-level terminal, constructed at a cost exceeding 1,100 crore, boasts advanced facilities capable of accommodating over 44 lakh passengers annually and handling up to 3,500 passengers during peak hours.
The design of the terminal, showcases themes ranging from Kolam art to the colors of Srirangam Temple. The vibrant exterior and captivating interiors symbolize India's cultural connection with other nations. The terminal features 60 check-in counters, five baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration counters, and 44 departure emigration counters, providing a seamless experience for travelers.
Tiruchirappalli International Airport, ranking as the second-largest airport for international passenger traffic in Tamil Nadu after Chennai, is set to play a pivotal role in boosting the region's connectivity and economic prospects. PM Modi's visit includes inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for various development projects worth over 20,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Kerala. The agenda encompasses addressing the convocation ceremony of Bharathidasan University, inaugurating the new terminal at Tiruchirappalli International Airport, and dedicating projects worth 19,850 crore to Tamil Nadu.
