In his monthly address on 'Mann Ki Baat,' Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on the public to prioritize products made in India during wedding shopping, emphasizing the significance of supporting local businesses. PM Modi expressed concern over the emerging trend among "big families" to conduct weddings abroad, questioning the necessity of such practices.
He noted that the wedding season is underway, estimating a potential business of around ₹5 lakh crore, and urged individuals to contribute to the country's economy by choosing locally-made products for wedding celebrations.
The prime minister shared his thoughts, expressing a personal concern about the growing practice of families opting for overseas wedding venues. Modi stressed the importance of holding wedding festivities on Indian soil, asserting that it would contribute to keeping the country's money within India. He linked this approach to the 'vocal for local' initiative, suggesting that organizing weddings in India would foster the development of systems that support local businesses.
