Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a visit to the International Media Centre (IMC) on Sunday evening following the conclusion of the two-day G20 Summit. During his visit, PM Modi interacted with both Indian and foreign journalists who had gathered at the venue for coverage of the summit's proceedings.
The primary G20 summit took place at Bharat Mandapam, situated within the former Pragati Maidan complex. In close proximity to this main venue, the International Media Centre was established in halls number 4 and 5. The complex falls under the ownership of the International Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), which operates under the administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The International Media Centre was well-equipped to accommodate the needs of journalists, offering more than 1,300 workstations equipped with internet access and printing facilities. High-speed WiFi connectivity was also provided, along with International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) designed to transmit a clean feed from Bharat Mandapam. This feed was recorded by the national broadcaster, Prasar Bharati.
Manish Desai, the Principal Director-General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), revealed that over 2,000 journalists were actively working at the centre simultaneously, which included the participation of more than 600 foreign journalists. To ensure continuous coverage during the summit's duration, PIB teams were deployed in three shifts.
