Police arrest 3 including Hemant Sikaria for investment fraud
Three individuals were arrested on July 9 in connection with an investment fraud case following coordinated raids by two teams of the Cyber Crime Branch in Kolkata. The arrests were made in the morning from two separate police jurisdictions—Bansdroni Police Station and Bidhannagar South Police Station—based on technical and electronic evidence collected during the investigation.
The arrested individuals are Rajesh Kumar Khandelwal (son of Shankar Lal Khandelwal), resident of 127 Harisabha Math, Nilanjan Apartment, Kolkata-84 under Bansdroni PS; Abhinav P. Mathran (son of P.D. Mathran), resident of FE-453, Sector 3, Salt Lake under Bidhannagar South PS; and Hemant Sikaria (son of Late P. Sikaria), resident of GC-191, Sector 3, Salt Lake under the same police station. Khandelwal was arrested at 5:40 AM, Sikaria at 11:05 AM, and Mathran at 12:40 PM.
During the search and seizure operations, police recovered four mobile phones, one laptop, one internet router, six bank debit cum ATM cards, 17 cheque books from various banks, and three bank payment slips from the FE and Sector 3 areas. These items were seized as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged financial fraud operations conducted using digital and banking channels.
All three accused are scheduled to be produced before Bankshall Court later today. The Cyber Crime Branch has sought police custody for the individuals till July 17 for further questioning and examination of the seized materials.
