Howrah City Police arrested three members of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang from the Howrah station premises on Sunday night. Acting on a tip-off from a secret source, officers maintained close surveillance and caught the suspects—identified as Karan Pathak, Tarandeep Singh, and Akashdeep Singh—just as they were allegedly preparing to flee to another location.
All three arrested individuals are residents of Punjab and were wanted by the Punjab Police STF for their involvement in the murder of a kabaddi player, Rana Balachauria. According to police sources, the trio had been hiding in various parts of West Bengal, including Kolkata, since the murder took place. Investigators are currently probing whether they were merely using the state as a hideout or if they had specific criminal motives in the region.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has gained nationwide infamy for its involvement in several high-profile crimes, including the murders of singer Sidhu Moose Wala and politician Baba Siddiqui, as well as issuing death threats to actors Salman Khan and Kapil Sharma. The Howrah Police have already established contact with their counterparts in Punjab to facilitate the transit and further investigation of the arrested suspects.
