The Phoolbagan police station has arrested two individuals, Ajay Mandal (38) alias Chintu and Pankaj Biswas (30) alias Mishti, for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm and ammunition near Subhash Sarovar. The arrests were made at around 6:30 pm on Tuesday, near Suren Sarkar Road.
As per police reports, both the arrested individuals reside at 48/H/25 Pottery Road, Kolkata 15. Police recovered one single-shot firearm and two cartridges from their possession, indicating a potential threat that has now been neutralized.
A specific case has been registered at Phoolbagan Police Station against the duo under the Arms Act. The case, numbered 100 dated July 1, 2025, includes charges under Sections 25(1)(a) and 29 of the Arms Act. Section 25(1)(a) typically deals with manufacturing, selling, acquiring, or possessing prohibited arms or ammunition in contravention of the law, while Section 29 often relates to using such arms or ammunition.
