The Bidhannagar Police solved a high-profile kidnapping case within 24 hours following a dramatic abduction in Salt Lake Sector V on Tuesday evening. Police officers intercepted the suspects in the Haringhata area of Nadia district, arresting six individuals and safely rescuing the victim, Ankan Saha. The black Scorpio vehicle used in the crime was seized, and police produced all six accused before the Bidhannagar Court seeking a seven-day remand.
Investigation revealed that the victim, Ankan Saha, worked as a broker and was accused of defrauding several unemployed youths of lakhs of rupees under the pretext of providing job placements. Prime accused Prosenjit Ghosh allegedly hatched the conspiracy with his accomplices to retaliate against Saha for taking money and cutting off communication. The gang hired a Scorpio from Krishnanagar in Nadia and conducted reconnaissance in Sector V over several days before launching the attack.
On Tuesday around 5:30 PM, the perpetrators ambushed Saha as he was retrieving his motorcycle from a parking lot in Sector V, forcibly dragging him into the vehicle before fleeing. Officers from the Electronics Complex police station immediately tracked CCTV footage to trace the vehicle registration number and issued a state-wide alert. Haringhata police intercepted the suspect vehicle during a road check, rescuing Saha and taking all six suspects into custody to investigate potential wider motives.
