The 2022 TET-qualified candidates, demanding immediate appointment to 50,000 vacant primary teacher posts in the state, called for a “Chalo Kolkata” movement on Tuesday. The candidates had planned to gather at Karunamoyee crossing, but a large contingent of Bidhannagar Police had already been deployed in the area. Police personnel checked the identity cards of people coming out of the Karunamoyee Metro station. Those identified as protesters were immediately detained and taken away in police buses.
