The BJP launched a march from HIDCO to Swasth Bhavan in Kolkata, protesting the RG Kar Medical College incident. The party organized a sit-in on Thursday, with prominent leaders like Sukanta Majumdar, Suvendu Adhikari, Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, and others participating.
However, before reaching the health department headquarters, police stopped the rally and detained several BJP supporters. Suvendu Adhikari, Arjun Singh, and Agnimitra Paul were also detained. At the start of the procession, Suvendu criticized the state government's handling of the case, noting that despite hiring expensive lawyers.
He said, "The Chief Minister is allegedly using all resources to avoid justice". He mentioned that the public is closely watching the Supreme Court proceedings, where the case is currently under review, with Tarunjyoti Tiwari overseeing the matter.
Questions are being raised about the progress of the CBI investigation. The agency has been assigned several high-profile cases in the past, but there have been concerns about delays and the effectiveness of their probes, leading to criticism from opposition parties.
