Officers from the Golabari police station arrested two individuals red-handed after recovering a substantial quantity of country-made and foreign liquor inside the subway adjoining Howrah Station. The contraband was discovered hidden inside passenger bags during security checks conducted in the busy subway passage.
During initial interrogation, the arrested duo was identified as residents of Samastipur district in Bihar. The accused disclosed to police personnel that they were transporting the illicit alcohol back to their home state to serve guests at an upcoming wedding ceremony.
Golabari police seized the entire stock of alcohol and placed both suspects under arrest for illegal possession and transport of liquor. Police have initiated further legal proceedings and are investigating the origin of the seized liquor to trace any broader smuggling channels.
