Tension erupted in the Railpar area of Asansol after a violent disturbance allegedly broke out near the Jahangiri Mohalla Police Outpost following administrative communication regarding the use of high-volume loudspeakers. According to officials, personnel from the police outpost had visited the locality acting on directives issued by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to convey the administration’s message to members of the Muslim community regarding loudspeaker use.
Following the communication, meetings reportedly began at several temples and mosques across the Railpar area. During this period, the situation suddenly turned tense. It was alleged that a large group of anti-social elements gathered near the Jahangiri Mohalla Police Outpost and carried out extensive vandalism. Damage was allegedly caused inside the police outpost premises as well as in nearby areas.
Several vehicles, including police vehicles and private civilian vehicles, were reportedly vandalised during the unrest. The disturbance created panic and chaos across the locality. After receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent was immediately deployed to the area to restore order and control the situation.
Police forces continue to remain deployed throughout the Railpar locality, and the administration is closely monitoring the situation. Officials stated that efforts are underway to identify individuals allegedly involved in the vandalism and disturbance, and legal action is being prepared against those responsible for the incident.
