In a joint operation between Jammu and Kashmir Police and Faridabad Police, a massive cache of explosives and weapons was recovered from a doctor’s rented residence in Dhauj village, Faridabad. The seizure included 360 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, an assault rifle, a pistol, three magazines, 20 timers, a walkie-talkie set, and live ammunition.
Police said the accused, Dr. Mujammil Shakeel, a resident of Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, had been working at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad and was living in the rented accommodation for about three months. He was arrested following leads obtained during the interrogation of another doctor, Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, also from Pulwama, who was earlier detained in Saharanpur for allegedly posting materials supporting Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar.
Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta confirmed that the seized material was ammonium nitrate, not RDX, as some reports initially claimed. The police are now investigating the intended use of the explosives and how such a large quantity was brought near Delhi without detection.
