Kolkata Police have arrested two more individuals in connection with the violence and assault on journalists during a NEET-related protest at Dharmatala, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 16. The incident occurred on Friday when demonstrations over examination irregularities turned chaotic, leading to reports of physical harassment against media personnel covering the event.
Police had previously taken 14 people into custody immediately following the unrest. On Monday, law enforcement officers apprehended two additional suspects linked to the assault. Meanwhile, heavy police personnel escorted the arrested accused to the Dharmatala protest site to recreate the sequence of events as part of the ongoing investigation.
The investigation continues under strict police deployment to reconstruct the timeline of the clash and identify any additional individuals involved in the chaos. Authorities are examining available footage and evidence to determine accountability for the violence directed at journalists and the disruption during the demonstration.
