Kolkata Police intercepted a major foreign drug trafficking operation in the Karaya area, recovering 104 grams of cocaine valued at over ₹10 lakh. Acting on specific intelligence regarding a trafficking hub on Ballygunge's Ahiripukur Road, officers from Karaya Police Station raided the location and arrested three individuals: Azaharuddin Khan, Mohammad Asfaq, and Latafat Khan. Police suspect the seized contraband was intended for distribution at local rave parties.
Investigators revealed that the arrested suspects functioned as local distributors tasked with packaging the cocaine into smaller packets for rave parties and direct buyers. The illicit network reportedly sourced the drugs via dark web agents, who smuggled the foreign narcotics into Kolkata using courier services or human couriers.
Authorities are currently investigating how the shipment bypassed airport scanners and are interrogating the suspects to track down connected agents and buyers. The drug bust coincided with a high-level anti-narcotics coordination meeting held at Lalbazar, chaired by the Kolkata Police Commissioner alongside senior officials.
